Responsibilities
Assists with the development, coordination, and implementation for assigned student services programs. Examples of such programs include Assisting with Degree Certification, Athletics. Certification Process, Catalog updates regarding the Interactive Degree Audit (IDA) system, and Graduate Course Reservation Forms
Partners with the degree auditors to assist with the development and coordination efforts for programs, activities, and events
Assist with programmatic communications, evaluations, and assessments. Assist with collecting, analyzing, and producing reports related to program activity
Assists with the development and publishing of informational materials and websites to ensure students are aware of programs and services
Participates in university-wide and school-wide activities such as Family Weekend, Honors Day, Order of the Engineer, and Prospective Student Information Sessions
Conducts routine developmental academic advising for all engineering undergraduates to include managing adds/drops/withdrawals; appeal reviews; academic and scholastic warning advising; crisis intervention advising; career counseling; resource referrals; major change and course selection advising for incoming new first-year students; assisting with the coordination of graduation and commencement activities
Represents the advising office as required during meetings with students, university personnel (including campus-wide meetings on Student Retention, CSE Orientation Committee, CSE FIG Committee), community and professional groups
Participate in student division meetings and functions, such as commencement, orientation, advising, and first-year interest groups (FIGs)
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years' experience working with college students in a counseling or advising capacity
Experience managing student programs and demonstrated professional demeanor
High energy, team player with strong, dynamic written, verbal, and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with all levels of constituents: students, families, faculty, and other staff members
Ability to work independently and in teams with overlapping projects
Strong working knowledge/experience working with standard applications in the Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
Familiarity with video and web conferencing software such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Preferred
Master's Degree and four (4) years of experience in higher education, college student personnel, liberal arts, or communications
Experience working with high school or college-aged students
Experience supervising students and/or volunteers
Knowledge of the undergraduate student processes at UT Austin, familiarity with mainframe functionality, IDA, Advisors Toolkit, EASI, and EAB Navigate360
Able to work in a multi-faceted environment with tightly scheduled programs and deadlines
Strong communication and organizational skills
Appreciation for and knowledge of engineering/STEM education and knowledge with the University of Texas at Austin and the Cockrell School of Engineering
