Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Facility Activation

Responsibilities

Establish the concept of operations for the facility
Determine work content and program timing for transfer of work to the facility
Partner with Corporate Facilities to establish, monitor, and manage the non-recurring construction schedule
Develop the production floor layout and associated material flow
Develop equipment/tooling requirements and partner with Manufacturing to develop associated budgets, spend plans, and acquisition schedules
Lead planning and execution of production readiness gate reviews
Partner with local representatives where facility will be located - on site activation, staffing plans, and local community engagement

Required

BS in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience, OR Masters in technical or business discipline with a minimum of 6 years of experience
Candidate must have demonstrated technical experience in the creation of manufacturing plans including work location determination, development of equipment requirements, process definition, work area layout, tooling requirements, takt time evaluation, and capacity planning
Prior experience managing complex projects to include scope baselining, budgeting, scheduling, and performance monitoring/reporting
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area
Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance

Preferred

Prior experience developing site manufacturing plans for either a greenfield or brownfield site
Prior experience supporting the activation of a greenfield or brownfield site
Experience building and leading a team of manufacturing engineers
Demonstrated expertise in Lean principles, manufacturing metrics, and continuous improvement
Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software is a plus
Familiarity with Solumina MES software is a plus
Familiarity with Agile or Windchill PLM software is a plus
Strong personnel, planning, and project management skills
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
