Wireless Engineer
SynapOne is developing next-generation cellular-based space payloads and is seeking a Wireless Engineer (Cellular) to design and implement air interfaces for satellite-to-phone communication. This role focuses on PHY/MAC layer development, DSP, and SDR-based modem design for LTE and 5G satellite links, requiring hands-on engineering skills at the intersection of cellular networks, space systems, and signal processing.

Responsibilities
Design and implement PHY and MAC layer algorithms for satellite communication links
Develop baseband modems on Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms
Optimize physical-layer procedures and custom resource scheduling algorithms
Evaluate algorithm performance via simulation and target hardware testing
Develop test software and drivers for unit, integration, and system testing
Perform link budget analysis for LTE and 5G satellite-to-UE systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to benchmark payload software
Qualification
Required
Master's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Strong foundation in communication theory and DSP, including: Filter design, Clock recovery, Channel estimation & equalization, Channel coding, MIMO
Deep knowledge of 3GPP standards (LTE & 5G – PHY, MAC, RRC)
Hands-on experience with SDRs and lab testing/characterization
Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C/C++ for modeling and algorithm development
Experience with RF test equipment (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
Preferred
Experience implementing DSP algorithms in HDL (SystemVerilog, VHDL)
Background in RAN development or satellite communications
