The University of Virginia is seeking a Lab and Research Technician to support the lab of Francesco Michelassi, MD, PhD. The role involves conducting experiments, data collection, and collaborating with scientists in the field of neurology, specifically focusing on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy.

Responsibilities

Conducting experiments and analyses in laboratory settings to investigate scientific questions in fields like biology, chemistry, and physics
Design and execute experiments, collect data, and collaborate with scientists to advance understanding of fundamental and applied research
Assist in characterizing mouse models of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy
Perform behavioral testing, drug administration (tail vein injection, oral gavage, intraperitoneal injection, etc.), tissue dissection, routine genotyping and crosses, immunohistochemistry, and primary cell culture
Providing routine, technical, and administrative support for research projects

Required

Education: Associate's degree required; may accept equivalent combination of experience, education, certification in lieu of degree
Experience: 2+ years of lab experience which may include student experience
Education: Bachelor's degree required, may accept combination of experience/education/certification in lieu of degree
Experience: 1+ year of relevant lab experience required
Strong interest in translational research within neurology
Prior experience in experimental design, data assessment/interpretation, scientific presentation, and scholarly writing
Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment
