American University is seeking motivated student interns for the Department of Energy and the Environment. Interns will support the mission of improving the quality of life for District residents through research, program management, and community engagement focused on environmental issues.

Responsibilities

Conducting research and data analysis on energy and environmental issues
Supporting program staff in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives
Drafting reports, presentations, and outreach materials for internal and public use
Assisting with community engagement events, workshops, and stakeholder meetings
Monitoring and evaluating program outcomes to ensure alignment with DOEE goals
Providing administrative and logistical support to teams as needed

Required

Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program (environmental science, public policy, engineering, urban planning, communications, or related fields preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Interest in energy, sustainability, climate change, or environmental justice
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; data analysis or GIS skills are a plus
