Responsibilities

Researching the environmental components found during review to determine what environmental concerns are present in the proposed project and the steps required to address those concerns
Work with various federal and state agencies to obtain environmental permitting clearance for construction
Support the development of state and local land use and environmental permitting efforts, including conditional/special use permits and certificates of environmental compatibility
Work may include project compliance or fieldwork support, budget and milestone coordination, and proposal or scope-of-work development support
Coordinate survey efforts between third-party consultants and federal agencies as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in biology or related sciences; OR 30 credit hours in Biology combined with relevant field experience required
5 to 10 years of demonstrated environmental agency permitting experience
Understanding the rules and regulations that accompany Federal Grant dollars due to the need for federal funding to comply with: National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 7 of the Threatened and Endangered Species Act, State Archaeological Agency
Skill with Google Earth, QGIS, Excel, and Word
Language and Communication skills to write letters to various agencies, draft reports on endangered species, and negotiate avoidance and mitigation methods for projects
Able to resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner

Preferred

Knowledge working with federal agencies such as the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), US Forest Service (USFS), and/or US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and other state/local agencies
