They are seeking a Specialist, Tool Design Engineer to define and design manual and semi-automated tooling for the fabrication and assembly of solid fuel rocket motors, collaborating with cross-functional teams and overseeing procurement and fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

Working with cross-functional teams define tool requirements

Designing using PTC Creo and Windchill in accordance with principles of Design for Manufacturability

Conducting design reviews with cross functional teams to obtain approval of tool designs

Oversee procurement/fabrication of tooling

Working with manufacturing engineers to perform functional evaluations and acceptance of the tooling

Performing liaison support for tool maintenance by identification of tool problems, design of repairs and implementation of modifications

Use finite element analysis (FEA) methods and tools to perform structural analysis of tools in order to predict internal stresses and resolve structural instabilities

Apply GD&T and complex system tolerance analysis

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to obtain a US security clearance

Travel: 5%

Required

Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior mechanical engineering design experience; or a Graduate Degree, and a minimum of 2 years prior mechanical engineering design experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior mechanical engineering design experience

2 years of prior experience specifically in design of tooling, ground support equipment, or special test equipment

Ability to obtain a US security clearance

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
