Sr. Network Technician

Required
High School Diploma/GED. Additional experience may substitute for education
Four years of related experience
Must possess all requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities as posted in the supplemental section
Must demonstrate strong critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills
Ability to work on multiple priorities effectively
Ability to prioritize conflicting demands
Demonstrated track record of the ability to execute assigned project tasks within established schedule
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to communicate effectively in the service of users and colleagues in a positive manner
Writes and communicates clearly and concisely
Possesses sound documentation skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality

Strong understanding of data communication principles
Moderate to strong understanding of OSI Model
Strong familiarity with network troubleshooting techniques
Strong understanding of network management principles
Strong understanding of how DHCP and DNS services work
Demonstrated understanding of IP Addressing
Strong knowledge of public vs. private IP addressing schemes
Demonstrated understanding of WAN, routing techniques, and packet analysis
Ability to articulate and explain the fundamental differences between layer 2 and layer 3 functionality
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot simple IPv4 routing issues for routes located at remote facilities (small edge routers)
Strong understanding of VLANs and demonstrated ability to configure and validate
Media/cable selection (Cat5/6, fiber, etc.)
Network patching and cable management
Basic device diagnostics and issue resolution
Network troubleshooting tools (Fluke testers, cable certifiers, toners, etc.)
Ticketing and change-management systems
Hardware replacement tools and standard installation equipment
Customer service and communication skills
Ability to gather requirements and understand customer needs
Coordination with Facilities, vendors, and technical teams
Participation in technical discussions and project meetings
Documentation and adherence to procedures
Task prioritization and time management
Following established installation and troubleshooting procedures
Attention to detail and quality assurance
Ability to work independently under guidance
Problem-solving in structured environments
Preferred
Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) preferred
Crestron systems experience preferred
Strong understanding of web based video conferencing solutions, Teams, Zoom, WebEx
