Materials & Process (M&P) Engineer - Polymers

ST Engineering MRAS is a pioneer in the production and assembly of complex aerostructures. The Materials & Process (M&P) Engineer – Polymers will support the Advanced Material team in developing new polymer materials and processes for aerostructure applications, ensuring timely project management and communication of obstacles.

Responsibilities

Support the Research and Development of next generation Composite Materials, processes, and equipment for Aerostructure applications
Apply knowledge of Materials Science and Engineering to develop, characterize, and test new materials and material systems
Support development of novel polymer systems and chemistries from formulation through to production introduction
Utilize and maintain characterization techniques to develop critical formulation screening tools
Support the development of engineering processes, methods, and tools
Participates in a research and development environment developing new materials and associated manufacturing and application processes
Limited domestic/international travel may be required (up to 20%)

Required

Bachelor's degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field from an accredited university
Understanding of polymer structures and properties and chemical and mechanical testing techniques including FTIR, DSC, DMA and Rheology
0-5 year's related experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
Technical knowledge in one more of the areas of: adhesives, composites, metallics, polymers/elastomers, high temperature materials
Familiarity with 3D CAD software (CATIA, Solidworks, NX, or similar)
Operational knowledge of materials characterization lab equipment
Familiarity with statistical software, including Minitab, JMP, or similar
Proactive and efficient delivery of communication and follow-up
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work in a timely manner
This position involves access to export-controlled technology which requires U.S. Person status or government authorization

MS office proficient
