Research Scientist Assistant

The University of Texas at Arlington is a comprehensive teaching and research institution located in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metroplex. The Research Scientist Assistant will support Dr. Dennis Lal and his research team by assisting with day-to-day research activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating resources for research projects.

Responsibilities

Assist with data collection, organization, and preliminary analysis for ongoing research projects
Maintain accurate and up-to-date research records, databases, and documentation
Support preparation of research materials, including protocols, consent forms, and study-related documents
Coordinate scheduling for research-related meetings, participant visits, and project timelines
Help with literature reviews and reference management for manuscripts and grant proposals
Prepare and process research-related paperwork, including IRB submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews
Monitor compliance with institutional, federal, and sponsor regulations
Assist in budget tracking and expense reconciliation for research projects
Support grant preparation by gathering required documentation and formatting submissions
Serve as a liaison between the research team and administrative offices for procurement, travel, and reporting needs

Required

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, neuroscience, psychology, or related discipline) or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with research compliance systems is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

Prior experience in research or research administration
Experience with IRB processes and grant administration
Experience and knowledge of data management tools and statistical software
Familiarity with academic research environments and funding mechanisms
