Responsibilities

Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes. Receive direction on all aspects of assignments, specific tasks and how to execute. Work is thoroughly reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles
Interact with multiple departments and peers within the organization and participate in intern program learning and development opportunities
Observe and participate in the fire protection design projects
Conduct site visits with engineers to perform flow tests
Conduct construction administration site visits with engineers to document testing for sprinkler, fire alarm, and/or fire pump systems
Design fire protection and life safety systems for various projects under the direction of an engineer
Communicate effectively with engineers, project manager, and occasionally the client
Conduct field observations visits to accurately document the existing field conditions
Accurately produce the project construction documents to meet milestone schedules within a predetermined hourly budget under direction of a senior engineer and project manager
If directed, review all project related construction administrative items (shop drawings, RFI's, change order proposals)
Review and learn codes applicable to the discipline

Required

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required
Enrolled in an ABET-accredited degree program, preferably in a fire protection engineering program of study
Interest in fire protection engineering as a future career path
Introductory study or knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, CONTAM, and/or FDS modeling software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Must be at least 18 years old
