Senior Mechanical Engineer (Onsite)
Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the electronics packaging design and development of high-performance communication products. This role involves applying mechanical engineering principles to design and develop communication products while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure product lifecycle requirements are met.

Responsibilities
Use and apply mechanical engineering principles and techniques to design, develop, document, verify, and support communication products
Perform mechanical packaging design to meet challenging environmental requirements
Collaborate on development of circuit card designs (profile, stack up, thermal/vibration considerations)
Lead prototype build and verification and pre-qualification testing within a cross functional team
Work closely with a multidiscipline team to ensure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product's lifecycle, including supporting integration, testing and qualification of the final product
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Demonstrated experience supporting the full product lifecycle, including requirements participation in bid and proposal, requirement capture, design development, and production support activities
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
DoD Clearance: Secret
Preferred
Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD). Includes working knowledge of model creation, interrogation with CAD tools like NX or Solidworks to support mechanical designs
Experience with MIL-STD-810 and/or DO-160 environmental requirements
Familiarity of electronic product packaging requirements
Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and associated analysis methodologies
Familiarity with machined and sheet metal manufacturing methodologies
Knowledge of design to cost, manufacturability and small volume packaging
Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience with Agile development methodologies, including planning, tracking, and managing hardware development tasks in JIRA, is a plus
