Aircraft Mechanic I (Avionics)

ICMS is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I (Avionics) to provide aircraft maintenance services to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, ensuring that aircraft remain in top condition through various maintenance and repair tasks.

Responsibilities
Documents maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements
Maintains high state of cleanliness and utilizes a clean-as-you-go process when executing maintenance duties
Performs regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk-downs
Maintains situational awareness and mitigate risks
Complies with processes and procedures as per DHS/Department of Defense (DoD) documents and publications
Maintains and controls tools. Reports missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the site supervisor immediately upon discovery Inventory and inspect tools IAW ALC INST 13600.1 on a regular basis and identify when to replace worn or broken tools
Cleans work area as necessary, assuring all flammable or otherwise hazardous materials are properly stored; handles and disposes of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements
Complies with safety rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work area. Promptly reports accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to the site supervisor
Uses Government computer system to access various technical references for airframe repairs and Government training requirements
Provides satisfactory customer service
Services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness
Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneumatic, engines, auxiliary power unit, propellers and propeller gearboxes, ventilation, and heating systems
Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills
Reads and interprets manufacturer’s and airline’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
Performs progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections
Examines engines for any abnormalities IAW the OEM’s maintenance manual such as engine/hydraulic leaks, general wear and tear, chaffing lubrication line, electrical harnesses and other components associated with the engine
Examines the propeller system for delaminated, damaged, chipped, or worn propeller blades. Also inspect the propeller gearbox for any abnormalities IAW the OEM’s maintenance manual such as lubrication leaks, general wear and tear, chaffing lubrication line, electrical harnesses and other components associated with the propeller system
Inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments
Inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks
Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components, alternators, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment
Removes engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck
Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, cracks, and airworthiness
Repairs or replaces defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing gearboxes, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes
Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft
Enters in the maintenance record description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily
May service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition
May specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in line maintenance engine repair
Provides technical direction to Aircraft Mechanic Helpers and Aircraft Workers
Ability to perform a full range of aircraft electrical/avionic maintenance, repairs, modifications, inspections in accordance with approved methods, techniques, practices, and certifies accomplished work
Ability to adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems
Experience in the installation and removal of electrical/avionic components
Experience in troubleshooting and repair of aircraft interface issues with electrical/avionic components, antennas, radar systems, navigations systems, and flight director systems
Qualification
Required
Shall be citizens of the U.S
High school diploma or equivalent
Four (4) years of documented experience performing aircraft maintenance on fixed or rotary wing aircraft or demonstrated experience performing aircraft maintenance as an Aircraft Helper on this contract
Four (4) years of documented experience in aircraft electrical/avionic installation, troubleshooting and repair
Ability to operate all GSE equipment associated with fixed wing airframes (scissor lift, etc.)
Gas Free Engineer qualified
Forklift qualified
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
Possess computer skills to include a basic knowledge sufficient to complete internet searches and prepare/edit documents utilizing word processing or spreadsheet applications
Shall be capable of using cumbersome Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) operations
Shall be capable of performing tasks that frequently require lifting, reaching, bending, walking, pulling, sitting, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and stretching for prolonged periods of time
Shall be capable of performing tasks in cramped, awkward, and strained positions and/or climbing up and down ladders, work platforms, scaffolding, and aircraft structures
Shall be capable of carrying items up to 40 pounds and on heavier items shall seek assistance of other workers or weightlifting devices
