The Microbiologist will be responsible for preparing, conducting, and interpreting microbiological testing evaluations on a wide variety of commercial products to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

Responsibilities
Conduct contamination assessment by preparing and plating samples for Total Plate Count, Yeast and Mold, E. Coli, Salmonella, etc…
Conduct Probiotic Assays using appropriate agar and preparations conditions
Perform allergen assessments by ELISA to ensure safety
Perform GMO analysis using PCR
Conduct challenge studies to assess anti-microbial properties of material
Prepare and sterilize equipment, glassware, and media to ensure aseptic conditions
Monitor and manage lab supplies, ordering what is needed to ensure continuous operation
Adhere strictly to safety protocols, calibrating instruments and validating test methods
Accurately record and document all observations, data, and results in lab notebooks and electronic systems
Qualification
Required
4 yr Bachelor degree in a Biological Science, preferably in Microbiology
Experience culturing and cultivating organisms
Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Excellent communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
Excellent organization and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
Preferred
1 year experience performing testing with bacteria, mold, and fungus, preferred
Experience with current market test standards (ASTM, BAM, USP, or ISO) a plus
