Title Updates Specialist – Illinois Real Estate
Chicago Title Insurance Company is seeking a Title Updates Specialist to join their Title Updates group, which manages changes on Illinois real estate files. The role requires strong knowledge of Illinois title insurance practices and the ability to handle time-sensitive requests in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Reviewing and approving surveys, encroachments, and related exceptions
Reviewing authority documents (LLCs, corporations, trusts) to determine signing authority
Reviewing and approving Powers of Attorney
Resolving complex title issues, including re-examining files when parcels, vesting, or prior requirements change
Clearing or raising title items based on recorded documents and provided support
Processing standard update requests (CPLs, endorsements, purchase price or loan amount changes, name corrections)
Updating commitments for new buyers and running name searches when required
Reviewing PIA and judgment matters for clearance or exception placement
Reviewing trust documents, successor trustees, and trustee authority
Updating vesting using death certificates, obituaries, or estate documentation
Processing tax updates and later-date updates prior to closing
Performing light re-exams for missed mortgages, releases, deeds, or vesting issues
Communicating with internal teams and external customers in time-sensitive situations
Qualification
Required
3+ years of direct experience working with Illinois real estate title insurance files
Hands-on experience in Title Updates, Examining, or equivalent title production roles
Customer-facing experience handling internal and/or external title requests
Ability to independently review recorded documents and supporting materials
Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
Comfort working in a high-volume environment with last-minute changes
