Responsibilities

Prepare and execute the 3-year Lab & Production Equipment business strategy
Own and deliver the full P&L commitments for the Lab & Production Equipment business
Champion Engineering processes (Toll Gate, Visual Mgmt., etc.) to drive high margin new products and ensure design for lean/optimal manufacturability
Drive the Lab & Production Equipment Manufacturing operations strategy
Rigorously apply the ATS Business Model (ABM) throughout the business while ensuring sustainable results from each tool and event
Lead Product Management to optimize value and return for the business
Ensure strong customer satisfaction through sales support and strong operational performance as measured by the Value Drivers, VOC and other KPIs
Create followership with Lab & Production Equipment site leadership teams by positively engaging with them and by developing direct reports into strong business leaders
Build a talent bench of successors in key and critical roles throughout the business and champion talent to drive greater results
Develop risk mitigation plans to ensure business continuity
Support marketing and sales processes to drive bookings growth and margin expectations
Demonstrate leadership in and ensure conformity to all matters of compliance including trade compliance, health and safety, policy, and procedures, and ATS Code of Business Conduct
Monitor and control expenditures and labor costs to operate within approved budget guidelines. Identify variances and potential corrective actions
Appropriate interface and co-operation with Segment and Corporate executives including observance of inter-department and inter-divisional systems, routines and communications that are essential to overall company efficiency

Required

Bachelor's degree in business
20+ years experience in an Engineered Products/Equipment business with more than 10 years direct experience in Engineering (R&D)
20+ years experience in Manufacturing Operations with at least 12 years hands on experience optimizing plants, plant layouts and driving in-plant and cross-plant improvements
Minimum 15 years of experience in leadership in a manufacturing company where there was a formal continuous improvement 'system' (TPS, etc.) in place
15+ years of hands-on experience with continuous improvement tools including Goal/Policy Deployment, Kaizen, 5S, Problem Solving, Daily Visual Management, Growth tools, etc
15+ years experience with budgeting and financial statement ownership (profit & loss)
10+ years of business unit level strategic planning and goal setting experience
Understand the dynamics of a General Manager's role for a business unit inside a global, publicly traded organization
Solid understanding of complex operations and supply chain management
Maturity, presence, and perceived level of competence to deliver results, achieve credibility and respect from within in Scientific Products and across the broader ATS organization
The human relations skills required to effectively manage and motivate a large workforce while maintaining good relationships between management and employees and avoiding third party intervention
Excellent interpersonal skills, delegation, and a collaborative management style
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
