Responsibilities

Serves as a Dam Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) and principal advisor on complex engineering issues related to dam and levee safety
Develops engineering publications, criteria, and guidance for Corps-wide application
Manages the technical portion of analyses and studies prepared by internal teams, Architect-Engineer firms, or other contractors
Performs agency technical reviews of major rehabilitation and safety modification reports to ensure compliance with established criteria and sound engineering principles
Develops advanced engineering models and analytical tools to support risk-informed decisions for dam and levee safety
Leads multi-disciplinary teams (Structural, Geotechnical, Hydraulic, or Geologic) in the evaluation of complex infrastructure performance and risk
Leads a subordinate staff of engineers and technicians by assigning, coordinating, and reviewing their work
Provides expert consulting services and technical training to USACE districts and other federal agency personnel

Required

Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering or geology
Possess and maintain a State Registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in the analysis and design of complex features for dams, levees, or similar large-scale water-retaining structures
Experience performing formal technical reviews of engineering analyses and design documents to ensure compliance with agency criteria
Experience providing expert technical guidance and mentorship to other senior engineers on complex engineering and safety issues
