The Manufacturing Engineer – Automation will support and optimize automated equipment programs to ensure efficient production of truck bodies, troubleshoot issues, and enhance manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities
Adheres to all safety policies within the work area and across the organization
Troubleshoots equipment issues, resolves safety concerns, and develops clear process documentation
Conducts studies and analysis to improve equipment Overall Equipment Effectiveness
Identifies production bottlenecks and implements effective, data-driven solutions
Prepares and presents concept layouts, drawings, and technical visuals
Performs detailed diagnostics and creates comprehensive technical reports
Partners with multiple teams to increase production efficiency and solve operational challenges
Enhances labor utilization, space efficiency, and overall cost effectiveness of manufacturing processes
Establishes standardized equipment specifications and process best practices
Creates and documents training materials for Operators and Maintenance staff
Works with Maintenance teams to develop procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, and spare parts lists
Identifies, evaluates, and qualifies equipment integrators and suppliers
Justifies, installs, tests, programs, trains, and successfully deploys equipment into full production
Coordinates with OEM technicians to remotely troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues during breakdowns
Able to work off-shifts or extended hours when required to troubleshoot and repair downed equipment
Willing to travel up to 25% across North America
Performs other CI responsibilities as assigned to support ongoing operational excellence
Qualification
Required
BS in Manufacturing, Welding, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
Foundational experience in design engineering principles and practices
Background in low-volume, high-complexity / model-mix production environments
Strong understanding of key manufacturing design elements
Familiarity with core manufacturing processes and workflows
Knowledge of manufacturing regulatory standards and compliance requirements
Understanding of manufacturing design tools, systems, and software
Working knowledge of Data Analysis, DOE, GD&T, FMEA, and DFM/DFA
Exceptional mechanical abilities and a focus on practical, efficient design
Strong manual dexterity with a hands-on, problem-solving approach
Intermediate proficiency with 2D and 3D drafting/design software
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
Solid understanding of robotic programming (FANUC) with proven, hands-on experience
Excellent analytical abilities and strong equipment troubleshooting skills
High attention to detail with strong time and task management capabilities
Demonstrated ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Understanding of ladder logic with the ability to troubleshoot control systems
Ability to define and specify automated manufacturing cells in detail
Strong understanding of production flow, layout efficiency, and plant optimization
