Student Assistant, Intern – Accessible Learning Center
New College of Florida is offering an internship opportunity at the Accessible Learning Center (ALC) for students to support their peers in navigating academic and residential accommodations. Interns will assist with various projects aimed at enhancing accessibility services and will develop professional skills through training and collaboration with staff.

Responsibilities
Interns will complete orientation and training in ALC procedures, student support services, confidentiality, and communication strategies
Each intern will be assigned a supervisor within the ALC who will provide ongoing guidance, feedback, and mentorship
Interns will complete projects in partnership with staff, which may include assisting with office processes, helping plan events, or supporting outreach efforts
Assist students with the ALC intake and accommodations request process
Support residential accommodations such as assistance animal requests, housing adjustments, or related documentation
Help coordinate testing services, including scheduling and communicating with faculty
Create or update student resources such as handouts, website content, or FAQ guides
Present information about the ALC to student groups, residence halls, or classrooms
Participate in outreach activities, such as tabling or information sessions, to increase awareness of ALC services
Provide front desk coverage: greet visitors, answer phone calls, and assist with scheduling
Maintain student files, office organization, and assist staff with administrative projects
Qualification
Required
Successfully completed at least one semester at NCF (1 successful contract)
Interest in helping fellow students succeed academically and personally
Willingness to learn about accommodations, accessibility, and student support
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to scheduled hours
Self-motivated and able to contribute as part of a team
Commitment of 8-10 hours per week required
Monday-Friday schedule with occasional evening or weekend hours for special events
