Senior Tire Modeling and Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Engineer

Responsibilities
Develop, test, roll out industry leading tire modeling techniques to drive future OE tire and virtual vehicle design, development and validation for Ride, Handling, Steering and Loads
Virtually integrate tire models to meet ride, handling, and steering targets
Collaborate to optimize testing, modeling and implementation across GM’s virtual domains
Leverage FTire, MF-Tyre/MF-Swift and other industry leading tire fitting/modeling tools to advance our capabilities
Develop and maintain the cross-functional vehicle dynamics master model framework and co-simulation packages
Use data management tools to integrate 1D data and control systems into simulation workflows
Continuously improve the fidelity of chassis subsystems and full vehicle models
Advance virtual development by creating new load cases and collaborating with test teams to reduce reliance on hardware-based methods
Work effectively across functions and cultures to build strong partnerships
Communicate, influence, and motivate teams to deliver world-class designs and integration
Mentor and coach team members, providing guidance and support
Influence without direct authority, manage ambiguity, and resolve conflicts to achieve goals
Promote GM values and make customer-focused decisions
Collaborate with global partners to enhance product design and simulation capabilities
Demonstrate ownership, strategic thinking, and sound decision-making
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Math or Science or closely related field of study
5 or more years of relevant experience focused on tires in the automotive, aircraft, construction, or related industries
Experience applying computational methods to solve engineering problems
Proficient in using scripting languages such as MATLAB or Python to automate and analyze simulations
Demonstrated ability to work in teams, balancing technical theory with practical limitations
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrate creative and independent thinking
Preferred
MS or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Software, Computer Engineering closely related field of study
Familiarity with multibody and/or controls integration CAE tools such as Simpack, ADAMS, MotionView, Carsim, Carmaker, Matlab/Simulink, dSpace VEOS, Github and other similar tools
Advanced project or thesis work in tire testing, tire modeling/simulation, and/or multi body dynamics modeling
Practical automotive experience - Building, restoring, modifying; Performance driving schools
Participation in automotive teams - Mini-Baja, Formula SAE, PACE, Eco-Car, etc
