Responsibilities

Perform chemical, bacteriological, and organoleptic analysis of raw, in-process, and finished products
Obtain samples for testing from silos, tanks and production lines
Generation of processing batch tickets from computerized system
Preparation of lab testing materials/supplies
Maintain a professional relationship with production and maintenance personnel
Instruct, and train present and future laboratory technicians as needed
Maintain, review, and distribute quality control reports as requested by QA Manager
Calibration of laboratory equipment to assure proper testing
Review of lab procedures and policies
Assist in the samplings and shipment of monthly customer, sales, and regulatory samples
Accept, suggest, and assist in the assignment and performance of special projects
Be active in the development and enforcement of Lab Safety practices
Attend trade organization meetings and training sessions as deemed appropriate by the Q.C. Manager
Support SQF by maintaining food safety through completing job tasks and maintaining the area in a sanitary manner
Maintain all documented information as per SQF requirements
Work overtime, as needed, which will require an obligation from you to fulfill
Carry out additional duties assigned by the Lab QC Manager or Supervisor
Understand and follow all safety procedures, always wear proper PPE, and never put yourself or other employees in harm’s way
Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
Pick up work area before leaving at the end of shift
Current knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel. Adapt to new technology as it comes into the department

Must successfully obtain Milk receivers, Appendix N for Beta Lactams, DMC licenses within 6 months and maintain thereafter
Intermediate Computer Skill (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.)

Basic English/Math skills
Able to meet all safety compliance standards
Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility including but not limited to office, production, and warehouse environments. Including the outside perimeter of the building
Able to work at heights greater than 40 feet while operating a powered industrial truck
Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions
Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break
Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and move objects exceeding 50 pounds with reasonable accommodations
Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions

Preferred

Prior experience in food manufacturing is a plus
Knowledge of food microbiology, chemistry, dairy standards and CIP sanitation is desired
