Associate Mechanical Designer

Responsibilities

Performs mechanical designs and calculations under the direct supervision of an Engineer or Team Lead
Assists in the preparation of mechanical designs for power and low voltage products
Interacts with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis
Presents technical information during design meetings or reviews
Creates and updates 2D prints and 3D models for piece parts components
Creates and updates 3D layouts of top-level and sub-level assemblies
Prepare Bills of Materials and prepare Change Notices to release components and assemblies
Supports the creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products
Self-checks own work to ensure accuracy to established drawing and design specifications and standards
Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along with production support as needed
Works with suppliers to integrate various components into higher level system designs
Supports service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed
Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Required

Education: Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent
Experience: 6+ months of product design experience
Proficient in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience in sheet metal or heavy fabrication design, Mechanical Design and Drafting, and Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes
Experience in large 3D assemblies and electrical equipment preferred
