Middle and Upper School History Teacher (2026-27)

Responsibilities
Teach Middle School (6–8) and Upper School (9–12) courses in History
Equip students to think critically and develop arguments about the past
Encourage students to engage in meaningful discourse across differences
Participate in the life of the school community through advising, leading activities, service learning, and/or other co-curriculars
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) from an accredited college or university in History or a related field
A minimum of three years teaching experience
Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive classroom that nurtures the diverse learners within it
Interest and/or expertise in curriculum development
Demonstrated collegiality, collaboration, teamwork, and organization
Flexibility and growth-oriented mindset
Proficiency in the effective use of educational technologies
Preferred
Expertise in both U.S. and non-Western history

Shuttle service is available to/from the 242nd St / Broadway subway station. Limited stops are also available near transit hubs in Manhattan including the Metro North Harlem Station and subway lines – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, A, B, C, and D. If there is need in the community, we can also run a shuttle from the Henry Hudson Parkway / 246th St bus stop which connects to the #7, #10, and Express Buses to/from Manhattan.
