Senior Manager Internal Communications

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and refine firm-wide internal communications strategy aligning firm objectives, values, and brand
Create and manage internal comms calendar, coordinating key messages and initiatives across departments and leadership
Identify internal target audiences and customize communication channels, messages, and cadence to optimize engagement and understanding
Be the architect and editor of compelling internal communications content, including (but not limited to) announcements, newsletters, intranet content, leadership messages, presentations, holding statements, FAQs and internal updates
Ensure all internal communications are consistent, professional and possess an engaging tone of voice that reflects the firm’s brand and culture
Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure internal messaging is aligned with external brand positioning (where appropriate)
Lead communications strategy and execution for significant firm-wide change initiatives (e.g. tech implementations, organizational restructures, new policy rollouts, growth plans), including crafting compelling narratives around change and identifying potential communication gaps
Collaborate with firm leaders to support the development and execution of internal communication strategies during sensitive situations or unexpected events
Build strong, collaborative relationships with firm leaderships, practice leaders, corporate and administrative teams to understand their communication needs and offer expert guidance
Develop detailed communication plans, timelines, and messaging that informs, prepares, and motivates employees through periods of change
Be a trusted advisor, providing best practices and strategic counsel on internal messaging, timing, and channel selection
Facilitate workshops and/or training sessions for leaders/managers on effective internal communication
Support firm governing bodies (e.g. Executive Committee, Management Committees) in clearly articulating their directives and decisions to the wider firm
Determine how to effectively navigate the dichotomy of decentralized innovation and experimentation with centralized learning and knowledge sharing
Establish metrics and reporting mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication efforts and recommend improvements

Required

Currently holds an Internal Communications role with recent or current experience in a law firm or legal industry
10+ years of experience
Strong portfolio of work is required
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, PR or related
Proven track record of successfully leading communications for large-scale change management initiatives, demonstrating an understanding of change principles and methodologies
Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business objectives into compelling communication strategies and plans
Superior command of written communication with the ability to craft clear, concise, engaging, and grammatically perfect copy for diverse internal audiences
Confident and articulate in presenting ideas and influencing stakeholders- at all levels
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, influence without direct authority, and work effectively with senior leaders, diverse teams, and cross-functional partners
Excellent organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment
