Responsibilities

Lead a team of Industrial Hygiene and Safety staff who provide field support and safety oversight for programmatic, maintenance and research and development operations
Manage and mentor deployed IH/S professionals and technicians as they evaluate situations, assess risks, and assist customers in meeting institutional safety requirements
Develop and implement cost-effective safety solutions, ensuring compliance and promoting best practices
Oversee tactical execution to ensure operational excellence, continuous improvement, and high-quality customer service
Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders while building the team's capabilities to support LANL's mission success and help facilitate and support strategic objectives of OSH-DO and ALDESHQ

Required

Supervise and provide technical experience in interpreting DOE regulations, Policies/Procedures and regulatory requirements in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
Track and manage staff workload (e.g., required industrial hygiene sampling and exposure assessments)
Be proficient in interpreting, implementing, and overseeing Safety and/or Industrial Hygiene professionals and technicians who provide field support
Possess strong leadership skills with a track record of building teams, setting objectives, directing staff, and achieving milestones
Demonstrate the ability to design and implement strategic and tactical goals that align with organizational vision
Are experienced in applying risk-based decision-making in safety and operational contexts
Possess innovative problem-solving skills with a history of delivering measurable improvements through metrics, training, and performance-enhancing initiatives
Use effective communication skills with the ability to engage both leadership and direct reports clearly and thoroughly
Demonstrate commitment to high standards of conduct, operational formality, and achieving excellence in Safety and Industrial Hygiene programs
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Professional certification in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) and/or the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)
A DOE Q clearance

Preferred

Strong understanding of Department of Energy (DOE) requirements, including 10 CFR 851 Worker Safety and Health Program and Integrated Safety Management (ISM)
Knowledge of LANL and DOE/NNSA missions, as well as LANL management systems and requirements in areas such as personnel, budgeting, procurement, and safety
In-depth knowledge and experience implementing Industrial Hygiene and/or Occupational Safety programs, policies, and procedures in research, development, production, and construction environments
