Responsibilities

Perform biological, chemical, or related procedures involving a varied sequence of technical operations that follow well-defined methods

Assist with the training and direction of laboratory assistants

Perform functions related to setting up and operation of Laboratory Central Services Branch program including specimen receiving, processing, and data entry into a centralized database, the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

Prepare centralized glassware and equipment

Deliver and collect specimens, materials, and/or equipment

Collect medical and biological waste

Decontaminate and dispose of materials

Prepare media and reagents

Qualification

Required

Knowledge of Laboratory methods and procedures; fundamentals of biology, chemistry, and elementary mathematics; uses and care of laboratory equipment
