The intern will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting with nursing assessments, emergency response, and clinical documentation in a patient treatment unit.

Responsibilities
Assist the nursing team with nursing assessments and nursing interventions through the use of nursing diagnosis and care plans in a patient treatment unit
Primary duties will include nursing sick call, emergency response, administering and monitoring response to medication and treatment, recording and reporting pertinent medical and behavioral data and completing clinical documentation according to policies and procedures
Perform procedures taught within the curriculum of your nursing education program under direct supervision of your Preceptor, back-up Preceptor, Resource RN, or Nurse Manager
Qualification
Required
Applicant must be a current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in upcoming semester or in the immediately preceding semester
Applicant must be enrolled in an approved accredited RN program
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
