Criminal Prosecutions Attorney (Facilities Enforcement Team)
The California Department of Justice is dedicated to protecting vulnerable adults and preventing abuse in nursing homes. They are seeking a Criminal Prosecutions Attorney to join a multidisciplinary team focused on investigating and prosecuting elder and dependent adult abuse in California.

Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of attorneys, special agents, nurses, auditors, and legal staff to investigate abuse and neglect referrals and complaints
Advising on the development of investigative plans, including reviewing warrants and interview strategy, and working with expert witnesses under a vertical prosecution model
Evaluating evidence and potential theories of culpability for a filing decision
Prosecuting criminal elder abuse cases in state court at all stages of litigation, including charging, motion work, settlement or jury trial, and sentencing
Assist with unannounced inspections of nursing home facilities as part of the Operation SAFE program
Participate in training and public/law enforcement outreach
Qualification
Required
Demonstrate good judgement and professionalism in all interactions with members of the public, colleagues, opposing counsel, and the judiciary
Criminal jury trial experience
Familiarity with felony prosecution
