Sr. Manager, Software Engineering - Applications (Pages Experience Team)

The Sr. Manager, Software Engineering will lead the Pages Experience team, overseeing the development of member and admin-facing experiences for Company Pages, Schools, Products, and Services while managing engineering teams to drive outcomes and business results.

Responsibilities
You will manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of LinkedIn products that require design, architecture, and coding
You will participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap
You will be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship
You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack
You will manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality
You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7
You will produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration
You will set up the success metrics measurement procedures for each of the project & product
You will manage the performance and career development of the engineering teams
Qualification
Required
BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
3+ years of experience in software engineering/technical management and people management
7+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering
Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages(like Java/CPP/Scala/etc.)
Preferred
MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline
4+ years of software engineering management experience
2+ years experience managing managers
Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applications
Understanding of common performance patterns and anti-patterns in distributed systems
Successful track record of managing small teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with quality
Active involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmaps
Hire and retain world-class engineers by providing career growth, mentoring, and high impact projects, while taking intelligent risks to improve the way work is done
Experience collaborating with stakeholders, internal and external at all levels across the company
