Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with urban designers, landscape architects, planners, and engineers to help users engage with the built environment
Bridge the gap between 2D and 3D design using knowledge of visual communication
Help public clients envision possibilities for their streets, trails, and transit stations
Focus on wayfinding for bicycle networks, walkable urban districts, parks, and transit stations
Support stakeholder outreach and design workshops, concept plans, design guidelines, wayfinding strategies, branding, signage, and map design
Deliver presentations and reports, design intent documents, and final artwork
Lead the design of standalone wayfinding projects or EGD tasks within larger trails and urban design projects
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in graphic design, industrial design, landscape architecture, or related field from an accredited college or university and/or comparable work experience in lieu of a degree
5+ years of experience in graphic design, industrial design, landscape architecture, or other related field
3+ years' experience in wayfinding, including the preparation of design intent drawings demonstrating knowledge of fabrication techniques, relevant building/planning codes, and human-centered design
A portfolio demonstrating strong design skills
Proficiency in graphic production using Adobe Creative Suite
Strong logic and writing skills that support the development of sign locations and messaging
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to balance multiple projects. Project management experience is a plus
Preferred
Experience with CADTools, SignAgent, GIS, and/or Sketchup
