Management Consulting Group is seeking an Expert Project Controls Analyst to support PG&E’s multi-year Propel program. The role involves creating and monitoring project schedules, analyzing performance data, and coordinating across teams to manage project risks and resources effectively.

Responsibilities

Create, monitor, and analyze project schedules per best practices and PG&E specifications
Track, analyze, and report schedule and performance data to inform workstream management and highlight variances in weekly reports
Ensure accuracy of project schedules, metrics, and resource loading status
Coordinate schedules, tasks, meeting updates, and distribute reports efficiently
Prepare, implement, and monitor scopes of work using WBS for control and integrity
Monitor project progress, identify critical activities, and review forecasts and achieved progress
Maintain a project risk register to manage risks impacting scope, schedule, and budget
Track baselines, perform what-if analyses, and develop contingency plans
Develop conceptual models for business capability traceability to communicate processes to stakeholders
Coordinate across cross-functional teams to identify issues, monitor action items, and partner with project managers on resolution
Ensure key documents are stored logically with appropriate security and confidentiality; adhere to information retention policies
Produce accurate updates and reports using PG&E systems (e.g., Fieldglass, Excel, training reports) for staffing and work allocation
Communicate effectively in writing and verbally; develop visualizations of ideas, variances, and trends; collaborate within teams and provide leadership when required

Required

bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Construction, Computer Science, Business Administration, or MIS
working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts
7+ years as a scheduler or in project management roles
proficiency with MS Project or Primavera P6
strong data analysis for planning and reporting
excellent organizational and time-management skills for handling multiple concurrent tasks with shifting priorities
data analysis and reporting

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Outlook, Teams, SharePoint
strong organizational, accuracy, and communication skills
ability to learn quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

experience in large corporate IT programs
financial acumen and labor forecasting
ERP implementation experience (SAP) with understanding of Waterfall and Agile
Power BI and Power Apps
creating compelling PowerPoint and Word deliverables
Agile tooling such as Jira or Microsoft ADO
