Product Development Engineer

TC Transcontinental is a North American leader in flexible packaging and is seeking a Packaging Engineer to work with Research & Development. The role involves optimizing packaging structures and providing support across various departments including Manufacturing, Procurement, and Sales.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with Corporate R&D Engineers to optimize or develop products and improve cost performance initiatives with existing and new customers
Document, coordinate and conduct trials for products that improve internal and external projects or initiatives
Establish and audit internal and external product and process specifications
Provide technical support to customers as required
Coordinate onsite customer visits
Utilize all resources available to problem solve issues
Develop and conduct training and participate in internal/external training as appropriate
Manage Development Projects in accordance with the Design Control Policy and Procedures
Participate in Stage Gate Project reviews and follow up promptly on any assigned action items
Work collaboratively with their team on any special projects as assigned
Co-manage the SQC Pack software program
Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards

Required

Degree from accredited 4-year college or university. Engineering degree preferred
Demonstrated project and time management experience
Knowledge of printing/converting/flexible packaging industry
Knowledge of quality methods/testing and SPC
Working knowledge of problem-solving methodologies
Ability to work flexible hours and travel as necessary
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office operation systems
