Director Operations

Pennant is a holding company of independent operating subsidiaries that provide healthcare services through home health and hospice agencies and senior living communities. The Director of Operations assists the Executive Director in creating a safe and welcoming residential environment while promoting team collaboration and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

Ensures CAPLICO Core Values and Code of Conduct are adhered to at all times
Ensures compliance with Resident Rights and HIPAA policies at all times
Perform all duties and responsibilities as set forth in our established policies and procedures
Collaborates with the Marketing and Wellness team to review prospective resident needs and to assure the ability of the facility to satisfy those needs
Establishes working relationships with residents and their significant others as well as with the surrounding community to promote positive relations
Participates in weekly customer service planning meetings to maintain current knowledge of resident status and to ensure that the team is meeting resident needs
Identifies opportunities for service improvement through routine personal contact with the residents and facility staff, by analyzing available data, by monitoring of resident/family/staff concerns and suggestions
Responds promptly to resident and family complaints or concerns and attempts to resolve issues to mutual satisfaction
Promotes company programs designed to enhance residents’ well-being and independence
Supports and participates in hiring procedures as needed
Supports staff orientation. Ensures that designated team members adequately prepare new co-workers to assume their work duties
Oversees the continuing education and development of staff and maintains appropriate training documentation
Ensures adequate staffing consistent with resident needs, budgetary guidelines and regulatory requirements
Leads and supervises the management team by example, encouraging teamwork, promoting the facility’s philosophy of customer service
Motivates the staff to perform consistent, quality work and maintains high staff satisfaction through regular communication, individual coaching, celebration of achievement, and learning from mistakes
Provides 'open door' to staff addressing any concerns or grievances
Ensures appropriate response and follow up to on-the-job injuries as reported by staff
Oversees the maintenance of facility and grounds to provide attractive and comfortable surroundings and to ensure safety and security of residents, staff and visitors

Understands the applicable regulations of all licensing authorities and regulatory agencies and how to maintain regulatory compliance
Assists the Executive Director to: Communicate and uphold community policies
Manage resources to meet community targets for budget management, resident census, staff retention, customer satisfaction and resident wellness
Oversee the maintenance of the community and grounds to provide attractive, comfortable surroundings and to ensure safety and security of residents, staff and visitors
Promotes collaboration among community staff to ensure that resident services are as effective as possible
Completes and submits all reports as directed
Assists in the marketing of the community to both residents and staff
Encourages communication among supervisory team members both informally and formally through regular community meetings and attends designated meetings as directed

Required

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning
Ability to be calm and level-headed in emergencies
Well groomed, professional and possess ability to work harmoniously with other personnel
Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing resident care practices
Follow written and oral instructions
Must meet the education requirements set forth by the state's assisted living regulatory agencies
Must meet age requirements according to facility policy and state regulations
Must possess or be willing to obtain certification as Assisted Living Executive Director as required by state regulations in the allowable time limits
Meet all requirements for health, criminal background check, and drug testing
