Director of Revenue Cycle Management Training & Education-Patient Financial Services- Corporate 42nd Street- Full-Time Days

They are seeking a Director of Revenue Cycle Management Training & Education to develop and oversee comprehensive training programs for revenue cycle staff, ensuring regulatory compliance and enhancing the patient financial experience.

Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Implementation: Design, develop, and implement a structured, competency-based RCM training curriculum covering all aspects of the revenue cycle, from patient access to collections. This includes Technology-Enabled learning and Gamification
Needs Assessment and Gap Analysis: Conduct regular skills assessments to identify knowledge gaps and training priorities across different departments and roles within the RCM function
Regulatory Compliance: Proactively stay informed of and integrate all relevant federal, state, and payer-specific billing and compliance regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid) into all training programs
Training Delivery Methods: Develop a variety of learning pathways, including online modules, hands-on workshops, and mentorship programs, to accommodate diverse learning styles and schedules
Performance Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish clear performance metrics and assessment intervals to track the effectiveness of training programs and measure improvements in key RCM performance indicators (KPIs) such as denial rates, clean claim rates, and days in accounts receivable
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong, collaborative relationships with RCM leaders, IT, finance, and clinical department heads to ensure alignment of training programs with operational needs and system-wide priorities
Team Leadership: Hire, train, mentor, and provide guidance to a team of RCM education specialists and trainers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development
System Optimization: Work with RCM systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and IT teams to ensure training is aligned with system functionalities and to identify opportunities for workflow and performance improvements
Documentation and Reporting: Manage all course materials and records, and prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership on training activities, outcomes, and progress toward goals
Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing RCM operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, operational, IT, and finance teams to align RCM initiatives with organizational goals
Champion Mount Sinai’s values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, and patient-centered care in all activities
Maintain strong understanding of revenue cycle metrics and build processes to enhance analytical capabilities, process improvement identification, and technology enhancements
Maintain strong understanding of various system functionalities and lead team in identifying and implementing improvements for performance, workflow, and cost-to-collect reduction
Build effective, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across departments
Resourceful in creating or fine-tuning the processes necessary to complete the work along with the ability to organize people and activities
Challenge existing norms or courses of action to facilitate fully informed decision-making. Help institute balanced decision-making by identifying risks and opportunities
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with revenue cycle leaders, key stakeholders, and foster a strong working relationship with key strategic partners
Provide leadership and support governance processes to result in effective, efficient, standardized, and compliant practices
Create feedback loops and enhancement pipelines informed by stakeholders and data
Maintain strong understanding of revenue performance metrics and payer mix
Ensure compliance with all HIPAA privacy and security standards
Conform to the established policies/ procedures/ processes/ Standards of Behavior
Performs other duties as required by the System Vice President of RCM
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required
8–10 years of progressive leadership experience in revenue cycle operations within a hospital or large health system
Minimum of 5 years of management or supervisory experience, preferably in an education or training capacity within a large healthcare system
Proven ability to prepare and deliver high-impact executive presentations and reports
Strong experience with vendor contract management and invoice processing
Demonstrated success in a large not-for-profit/academic health system facility or multi-entity revenue cycle environment
Deep familiarity with Full End-to-End RCM, EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Epic), and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Microsoft Excel). Ideally across HB and PB spectrums
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with senior management and other leaders, along with the ability to communicate concepts to others without an IT background
Strong leadership skills to motivate cross-departmental teams' performance towards excellence using team concepts and consensus-building management styles
Demonstrated ability to engage in positive, powerful persuasion with individuals or groups with diverse opinions and/ or agendas, leading to outcomes that meet identified goals
Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems necessary to develop and administer multifaceted revenue processes, regardless of whether issues originate in an area under direct or indirect control
Ability to enlist cooperation and build teams committed to carrying out initiatives in environments that may be resistant to change and not under the incumbent's direct authority
The ability to maintain a high level of positive energy/ creativity during periods of elevated work demands
Ability to prioritize multiple objectives in a rapidly changing environment and deliver quality outcomes
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships at all levels throughout the organization
