Responsibilities

Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: Compiles data and prepares exhibits containing premium and claim statistics to state insurance departments, bureaus and other regulatory agencies. Prepares error-free state filing forms, exhibits, memos and supporting materials for regulatory filings
Keep abreast of leading market practices and driving innovation by developing rate impact analysis tools and other rate filing exhibits. Designs, develops, and maintains automated tools to streamline data extraction, transformation, and validation processes
With little direction, responds to regulatory agencies' and bureaus' questions and objections after performing analysis, researching and/or gathering information from business partners. Makes recommendations to business partners to influence filing outcomes
Prepares rate proposals (including relevant bureau circulars and competitor information), rate impact calculations, and preliminary external rate level indications to influence pricing decisions. Presents recommendations to Underwriting partners and Actuarial leaders
Identifies opportunities for process improvement and automation within the filing workflow. Collaborates with actuarial, compliance, and IT teams to integrate new tools and technologies into existing systems
May perform additional duties as assigned

Required

Broad knowledge of insurance business functions, statistical methods of analysis, actuarial ratemaking methods, regulatory reporting and industry practices
Demonstrated technical expertise. Knowledge and understanding of data marts and applications
Knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and other business related software (SQL and VBA proficiency is a plus)
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners
Solid project management, organization, and planning skills
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners sometimes influencing decisions
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively resolve moderately complex situations and issues. Ability to comprehend business data and metrics and to further articulate analyses of actuarial data within internal reports
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science or equivalent
A minimum of four years of related work experience
Successfully completed at least three to five CAS exams

Preferred

SQL and VBA experience preferred
Candidates with Associateship are strongly preferred
