Responsibilities
Build analytical and diagnostic tooling to help identify complex system issues, improve autonomy hardware stability, and support hardware debug through metrics, documentation, and system-level insights
Develop test automation and diagnostic tools that support vehicle production, including software for end-of-line testers, camera test equipment, and improved electrical test coverage on the manufacturing floor
Perform electrical stress testing, baseline characterization, and root cause analysis for Design Validation Test failures
Develop Python scripts to process large datasets (CSVs, CAN logs) for pattern recognition and risk identification
Contribute to testing infrastructure by designing and building custom test assets
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or other advanced degree in a relevant engineering field
Plan to return to school after completing the internship
Maintain good academic standing
Available to commit to either a 12-week summer internship (May or June 2026 start) or a 6-month co-op
At least one prior industry internship, co-op, or relevant project experience
Willing and able to relocate to the Bay Area, California, for the duration of the internship
Proficiency in Python is required
Familiarity with electronics and hardware, including the ability to troubleshoot system-level issues using test equipment and data
Demonstrate hands-on experience using lab tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply)Experience with building a PC
Preferred
Participation in engineering competitions (e.g., SAE, FIRST, DARPA, Solar Car)
Exposure to vehicle or embedded communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, I2C, SPI, UART, and Ethernet through coursework, labs, or projects
Experience taking a custom PCBA or mechanical design from concept through fabrication and assembly
