Mid LevelBSCS Science Learning is offering a Professional Development Provider Institute aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of PD leaders in implementing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This four-day experience will support participants in designing and leading effective professional learning programs for educators.

Responsibilities
Enhance knowledge of research and literature underpinning the NGSS and increase ability to support teachers as they translate research into the classroom
Increase capacity to support teachers in using routines, strategies, tools, and processes for enacting teaching and learning for next generation science
Strengthen ability to design and lead professional learning programs that support teachers in taking on the instructional shifts called for in NRC’s Framework and the NGSS
Plan, lead, and evaluate workshops that help teachers enact three-dimensional teaching and learning in their classrooms
Use a variety of 'close-to-the-classroom' routines and strategies to support teachers in strengthening their classroom practice
Monitor and adjust plans based on data and understandings about leading change
Increase intentionality in leadership practices
Qualification
Required
Deep knowledge of research and literature underpinning the NGSS
Ability to support teachers in translating research into the classroom
Capacity to support teachers in using routines, strategies, tools, and processes for enacting teaching and learning for next generation science
Ability to design and lead professional learning programs that support teachers in taking on the instructional shifts called for in NRC's Framework and the NGSS
Experience in planning, leading, and evaluating workshops for teachers
Ability to use a variety of 'close-to-the-classroom' routines and strategies to support teachers
Ability to monitor and adjust plans based on data and understandings about leading change
Intentionality in leadership practices
Preferred
Experience as a district science leader
Experience as a teacher leader
Experience as a science consultant
Experience as university faculty
Experience as a PD leader from informal science education institutions
