Postdoctoral Scientist: Robotic Scene Understanding for Embodied Intelligence
Honda Research Institute USA is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join their Intelligence Robotics Research Division. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of novel scene understanding and representation methods for embodied intelligence, focusing on dexterous manipulation and teleoperation.

Responsibilities
Research, ideate, and implement novel scene understanding and representation concepts for dextereous manipulation, assembly, and teleoperation
Develop algorithms to generate autonomous robotic behaviors to assist the operator with learned robotic policies or other methods
Develop software infrastructure and tools on test scenarios, baseline algorithms, module interfaces, etc. to facilitate the team's development efforts
Compile written and oral reports for executives within the company; file patents on developed technologies
Contribute to a portfolio of patents, academic publications, and prototypes to demonstrate research value
Assist with supervising of research interns
Collaborate with our team of engineers and scientists in Honda's regional and global R&D offices, as well as with our partners in academia and industry
Qualification
Required
PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Expert knowledge in scene understanding and action estimation in manipulation and related areas
Strong track record of publications on development of novel computational models
Extensive experience in machine learning methods
Proficient in Python or C++ and visualization tools
Familiarity with robot hardware and experience using ROS (Robot Operating System)
Preferred
Experience in robotic teleoperation, telemanipulation, and collaborative robotic development
Experience with Deep Learning, Foundational Models, Transformers, Representation Learning, Graphical Neural Network
Experience with Robotic policy learning for dexterous manipulation tasks with multi-finger hand
