Responsibilities
Exercises mastery-level expertise in evaluating and improving the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of fire management programs
Coordinates within the unit to ensure timeliness, formulation, procedures, accuracy, quality, and quantity standards are met
Assesses constantly changing hazards and environmental conditions of high safety risk jobs and widespread geographic dispersion of operations
Develops new policy and make significant modifications to existing policy which support wildland fire management practices for the resolution of fire management problematic issues and concerns
Advises on national and local applicable laws to ensure appropriate mitigations and technologies are efficiently implemented in bureau programs
Facilitates the USAF annual program of work and strategic long-term plans. Collaborates with USAF programs managers to develop required products. Composes accomplishment reports for distribution to FWS and USAF leadership

Driver's License: This position requires the incumbent to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of their official duties. Selectee must hold and maintain a valid state driver's license throughout their employment in this position
Prior experience in wild land firefighting is required in order to carry out the duties of this position. You will not be considered for this position if you do not have prior wild land firefighting experience
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GW-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience may include a) collaborating with others at the national, regional and local levels; b) implementation strategies to achieve long term land management and objectives; c) writing briefing papers, policy, and/or guidance etc.; d.) management of programs to evaluate compliance with policies, objectives and standards; e.) scheduling and organizing work
This position is subject to the qualifications and additional required training specified in the Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) Qualifications Standards and Guide
NWCG INCIDENT MANAGEMENT QUALIFICATIONS (CURRENCY NOT REQUIRED): Pathway #1 1) Task Force Leader (TFLD) AND 2) Incident Commander Type 3 (ICT3) OR Prescribed Fire Burn Boss, Type 2 (RXB2) OR Pathway #2 1) Helibase Manager (HEBM) AND 2) Incident Commander, Type 3 (ICT3)
You must provide a copy of your Incident Qualification and Certification System (IQCS) Master Record or other equivalent documentation which verifies you meet the required minimum qualifications for this IFPM position. Failure to provide this documentation by the closing dated of the announcement will result in you being rated as not qualified
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
