The Pacific West Region is recruiting a TEMPORARY seasonal position not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. The role involves applying professional knowledge of historical architecture to preservation projects while collaborating with project managers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Apply professional knowledge of historical architecture practice to assigned historic preservation projects
Represent park interests during the execution of assigned architecture and historic preservation projects
Maintain productive, collaborative relationships with project teams, stakeholders, and others involved in assigned projects
Collaborate with project managers to review park projects for appropriate historic preservation treatments

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience
To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Experience managing and providing oversight of historic structures rehabilitation design and construction projects. 2. Experience applying the Secretary of Interior's Standards for Historic Preservation to historic structure rehabilitation projects. 3. Experience providing historic preservation expertise into ongoing construction projects by answering RFI's and other requests. 4. Experience representing owner's interests in design and construction projects

EDUCATION: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
COMBINATION of Experience and Education. For Experience divide the number of months of specialized experience by 12. For Education take the number of sem. hours beyond the first two years of graduate education, divide by 18 sem. hours. It should equal 100% or greater
In addition, to qualify for this position in the 0808 Architecture series, you must possess at least one of the following Basic Requirements by close of the announcement: EDUCATION: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in architecture or a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least 30 semester hours were in architectural design, AND 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, AND a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings

The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by at least ONE of the following: 1) Related curriculum: A degree in architectural engineering may be accepted as satisfying in full the basic requirements, provided the completed course work in architectural engineering provided knowledge, skills, and abilities substantially equivalent to those provided in the courses specified in paragraph A
Experience: an applicant lacking a degree in architecture must have had one year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture
In the absence of college course, 5 years of such experience is required
