Responsibilities
Build and maintain PHP applications, including support for existing legacy frameworks
Work with MySQL to design schemas, write queries, and optimize performance
Support user interface development in React as needed, collaborating with front-end developers to deliver end-to-end features
Write and maintain unit tests with PHPUnit to ensure code quality and reliability
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while helping enforce coding standards within the team
Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers
Work closely with product managers, QA, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions
Actively engage in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives as a core member of the team
Ensure applications meet healthcare compliance and security requirements
Identify opportunities to enhance system performance, maintainability, and team efficiency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of professional experience developing applications in PHP
Strong experience with MySQL including schema design and query optimization
Familiarity with PHPUnit or similar testing frameworks
Some experience with React and ability to contribute to front-end development when needed
Solid understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
Proficiency with Git and experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with proven success working across engineering and product teams
Preferred
Experience maintaining and modernizing legacy PHP codebases
Experience with cloud-hosted environments (AWS, Azure, or similar)
Familiarity with healthcare, blood banking, or other highly regulated industries
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or Kubernetes
Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to team-level technical leadership
