Engineering & Project Support Specialist
Nix Companies, Inc. is seeking an Engineering & Project Support Specialist to provide critical support to their Repairs & Maintenance Division. This role involves assisting with engineering tasks, project management, and documentation control to ensure safe and efficient execution of industrial repair projects.

Responsibilities
Assist with engineering tasks related to piping systems, welded assemblies, and industrial repair projects
Support troubleshooting of fabrication, welding, and installation issues
Apply knowledge of ASME code requirements to ensure compliance
Support estimating efforts by gathering technical details, reviewing drawings, and preparing preliminary takeoffs
Provide technical insight on welding processes, weld qualifications, and quality control expectations
Contribute to the development or revision of welding procedures
Assist in planning, coordinating, and tracking R&M projects from kickoff to completion
Prepare project documentation, including work plans, schedules, material lists, meeting notes, and status updates
Collaborate with field crews, shop teams, engineering, and leadership to ensure alignment on priorities and timelines
Monitor project progress and communicate risks or delays promptly
Provide administrative support for project setup, closeout, and record keeping
Maintain organized and accurate project files, engineering documents, permits, procedures, and revision histories
Manage documentation related to safety, QC, welding qualifications, and inspection reports
Create or update standard operating procedures (SOPs), templates, and project forms as needed
Support bid packages, RFP responses, and other customer-facing documentation
Maintain an open-minded approach to learning the division’s broader workflow, challenges, and strategic goals
Participate in brainstorming, continuous improvement efforts, and create problem-solving for complex projects
Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners
Provide backup support to R&M leadership in areas such as scheduling, coordination, and communication
Qualification

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
Experience in industrial fabrication, mechanical maintenance, piping, or a powerhouse/mining environment is highly beneficial
Welding knowledge (processes, procedures, QC, welder qualifications) is a strong plus
Technical understanding of welded piping systems and industrial repair processes
Familiarity with ASME codes and industry best practices
Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office; experience with Solidworks or Inventor preferred
