Research and Development Engineer Intern
Penn State University is seeking undergraduates to assist engineers in the Applied Signals & System Integration Department of the Applied Research Laboratory. The role involves support in modeling, fabrication, testing, data analysis, and the development of algorithmic solutions with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Support for testing, data analysis, and data display
Contribute to the research and development of unique algorithmic solutions for a wide array of sponsor requirements, with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence
Assist with the design, assembly, and testing of prototype hardware
Qualification
Required
Current Penn State employee or student must apply through Workday
If not a current employee or student, must complete the application process for external applicants
Ability to support modeling, fabrication, and documentation
Ability to support testing, data analysis, and data display
Contribute to the research and development of unique algorithmic solutions with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence
Assist with the design, assembly, and testing of prototype hardware
Must be a U.S. citizen to apply
Ability to obtain a government security clearance
Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
Preferred
Mechanically inclined or the ability to learn and be comfortable trying new things
Knowledge of MATLAB or Python
Ability to take data in an organized fashion and write a report about their results
Students in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Acoustics, or Engineering Science & Mechanics are encouraged to apply
