Handle a wide array of responsibilities related to the production of Netflix’s live sports and events
Oversee business and legal affairs facets of in-house and third-party productions
Drafting and negotiating various agreements
Overseeing production-legal and clearance issues
Providing general business and legal affairs and production counsel support for the Sports team’s projects
Qualification
Required
At least eight (8) years of business and legal affairs experience in the acquisition, development, licensing and deep expertise in the production of live sports and events
Direct experience drafting and negotiating deal terms and all forms of agreements, including production services agreements, talent, above-the-line and below-the-line agreements, license agreements and all types of production forms
Extremely comfortable dealing directly with productions, producers and talent representatives
Ability to communicate across myriad departments within the company
Ready, willing, and able to completely own all business and legal affairs facets of live sports and events production
Drafting and negotiating various agreements
Overseeing production-legal and clearance issues
Providing general business and legal affairs and production counsel support for the Sports team's projects
Knowledge of substantive areas of the law and customary business practices relevant to live sports and events production including guilds and unions and music rights and clearances
J.D. (or international equivalent) and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Flexible and collaborative across a variety of projects and cross-functional teams
Comfortable with ambiguity
Strong analytical capabilities and judgment
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight timeframes juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Strategic, commercial, and practical thinker
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively, think practically and be solution-oriented
Willingness to tackle matters outside of expertise
Preferred
Experience providing in-house support, or as outside production counsel, for a network, streaming service, sports league/organization, or a production company that specializes in live sports and events
