Responsibilities

Testing involves the use of live explosives, simulated explosives, and mock passengers
Provide technical assistance in laboratory and scientific research, development, testing and related activities
Performs tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures in process or completion
Support testing by constructing and setting up equipment, configuring instruments, preparing test specimens or materials, and conducting data collection
Support testing by documentation, design, development, and building of test articles, to include use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and/or 3-D printing to design novel parts
Support the execution and analysis of test results and is expected to interface daily with clients and stakeholders on-site
The ability to regularly lift items weighing up to 50lbs, and to stage heavy equipment and test articles

Required

Hold an Associates of Applied Science or equivalent degree in a science field from an accredited college or university, or completion of study from an accredited technical school leading to a mechanic or technician rating; AND have at least 3 years of technical experience; OR have at least 5 years of technical experience without a degree
Be willing to work onsite at the TSL test facility five days a week
Strong oral and written communication skills
Significant experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with the development, documentation, and build of test articles to support testing efforts associated with security screening equipment
Candidates should be highly motivated and self-starters with a strong desire to learn
Required travel is expected to be up to 10% annually to client locations, Battelle offices, and or conferences
Sole U.S. Citizenship with eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability

Preferred

Hold an Associates of Applied Science or equivalent degree in a science field from an accredited college or university, or completion of study from an accredited technical school leading to a mechanic or technician rating; AND have at least 5 years of technical experience; OR have at least 8 years of technical experience without a degree
Experience as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) for the TSA
Experience supporting the execution of test events to evaluate the performance of security screening technologies deployed by TSA for checkpoint and checked baggage screening
Experience with Explosive Detection Systems (EDS), Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT), Explosive Trace Detection (ETD), Advanced Technology (AT) X-ray systems, Checkpoint Computed Tomography (CPCT) X-ray systems, and other TSA-deployed screening technologies
Experience and associated training to support work with explosive materials
