Manager of Accounts Receivable and Coding

Responsibilities
Manage the business functions of outstanding receivable accounts for both insurance and patients
Interpret insurance company billing policies and implement internal policies to determine claim resolutions
Oversee all aspects of coding and its integration with account collection
Compose and administer the School of Dental Medicine’s prospective audit
Communicate with Faculty to discuss claims requiring changes and educate Faculty and students on coding aspects
Interface with the Office of Institutional Integrity on external coding audits or inquiries
Develop and analyze financial data to improve revenue collection
Supervise two FT Advanced Accounting Technicians, one University Program Associate, and 1.75 FTE Coders
Provide leadership, administrative direction, and training in the development of processes, policies, and systems for business operations
Maintain job descriptions reflecting current work responsibilities of staff
Work with faculty, students, and other Managers and staff in a collaborative manner
Conduct analyses, document findings, prepare presentations, and provide recommendations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
Current knowledge of billing regulations, clinical coverage policies and insurance industry changes, in particular any/all changes related to coding
In-depth knowledge of current dental and medical insurance payor guidelines and regulations, as well as dental business office operations
Ability to optimize processes for account collection and reconciliation, ongoing high-volume coding audits, communication and training for B&F staff to prevent future denials and for faculty and students to improve coding accuracy
Super-user level of expertise with the axiUm system, the School's Dental Management Software System, as well as competence in university systems such as Business Intelligence
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Preferred
Previous experience in healthcare setting working with patient billing
