City Research Scientist, Level II
The City of New York is committed to enhancing the quality of life in New York City through the NYPD. The City Research Scientist, Level II will analyze statistical data, maintain databases, and conduct data integrity checks to support compliance research metrics within the Police Department.

Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining Division databases and access other Department databases to provide the Department with data relevant to compliance research metrics through the use of several analytical programs and languages (eg. Cognos, Python and SQL)
Maintain data dictionaries and other relevant documentation related to data maintained and created by the Civilian Complaint Statistical Analysis Unit
Conduct routine data integrity checks on datasets. Identify and report issues and discrepancies in generated data
Conduct data maintenance and design general project automation tools to be used by staff
Create and maintain data visualization tools such as Power Bi dashboards
Qualification
Required
A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization
A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in '2' above
Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in '1' and '2' above
