Supervisory Safety Engineer
The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command is seeking a Supervisory Safety Engineer. The incumbent will perform System Safety Engineering duties, conduct safety assessments of space and missile systems, and serve as the primary safety consultant to senior management, ensuring mission success while maximizing safety for the workforce.

Responsibilities
Perform System Safety Engineering duties on specifically assigned major or sensitive programs or projects
Conduct safety assessments of space and missile system designs, procedures, and supporting safety documentation
Apply System Safety principles and requirements to developing space-related programs/projects
Function as the primary professional and SLD safety consultant to senior USAF/USSF command management and local contractor safety organizations
Serve as the primary safety advocate to ensure top management is fully informed regarding hazards in the decision-making process
Develop new/improved local safety policy, applications, interpretations, and precedent-setting requirements
Coordinate changes throughout the local and sister Range communities to support changing space and missile safety complexities
Attend professional seminars and presentations to influence and gain understanding for maintaining system safety science and art
Support the overall management and operation of SLD 45/SE, including safety, security, and quality
Attend unit or Wing staff meetings, briefings, and/or technical interchange meetings when senior management is unavailable
Maintain awareness of changing booster, spacecraft, and upper stage configurations
Apply engineering knowledge and judgment in solving exceptionally difficult technical problems
Produce solutions that apply relevant maturing consensus standards

Required
U.S. Citizenship Required
Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed 'Unscheduled Telework'
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise
A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution, or in a closely related technical field as desired by the hiring organization, is required
This is a Supervisory position being filled
This is a Key position. Incumbents must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available
Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually, thereafter, file an OGE-450, 'Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.' Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training
Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year
May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis
