Business Development Director - Transformers
Taylor Hopkinson is currently in active pursuit of a Business Development Director for a Tier 1 tracker manufacturer expanding into a new high-growth vertical. This role is highly strategic and customer-facing, responsible for setting and executing the sales strategy, managing key relationships, and contributing directly to revenue growth.
Responsibilities
Lead the commercial launch of a new MV/power transformer product line
Build and manage a sales pipeline across utility-scale, C&I, and datacenter verticals
Identify high-value B2B opportunities and execute growth strategies
Conduct market and competitive analysis across regions and price points
Oversee client qualification and onboarding processes
Manage customer relationships across all phases of the sales cycle
Lead client presentations, proposal development, and contract negotiations
Collaborate with internal teams on product positioning, technical fit, and delivery planning
Support marketing initiatives, including promotions, trade shows, and webinars
Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and reporting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (plus business credentials preferred)
3+ years of experience in technical sales or business development in switchgear, transformers, or grid infrastructure
Solid understanding of electrical specs and technical drawings
Demonstrated success in launching or growing a new product line or market vertical
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable in fast-paced environments
Willing to work across multiple time zones
