Supervisory Park Ranger (PSAR)
Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island is seeking a Supervisory Park Ranger (Preventative Search and Rescue) to oversee a team responsible for emergency services. The role involves managing emergency response planning, supervising personnel, and ensuring visitor safety in a high-volume park environment.

Responsibilities
Performs a full range of administrative supervisory duties Including hiring, counseling, evaluating, and disciplining employees
Manages the short-term and long-term planning related to emergency response and safety training of subordinate personnel, park employees, and park partners
Oversee daily park operations in conjunction with supervisors from other divisions in the park
Prepares new or revised guidelines and operating procedures that deal with matters such as emergency services activities, EMS, wildland and structural fire control, rescue, and emergency management
Manages and participates in all capacities of all-hazards emergency incidents
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship required
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
Must possess a current Emergency Medical Technician certification
Must possess a current CPR certification
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal Service
3 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the occupation
Successful combination of Ph.D. level education and specialized experience as described above
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement
You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work
If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period
Preferred
Experience assisting in scheduling and managing emergency medical operations
Providing operational leadership during search and rescue and emergency medical response incidents
Providing advisory services to management, lower graded staff and visitors
